All eyes are on a possible One Piece collab coming to Epic Games’ flagship battle royale, but for some, the most exciting news was about the possibility of Final Fantasy characters coming to Fortnite.
If there’s one thing Fortnite is known for, it’s crossovers. From Star Wars to the NFL, Family Guy to Marvel, it seems like anything and everything can appear in the game, and with Disney now owning part of Epic Games, crossovers are sure to continue.
On February 11, Fortnite fans went into overdrive after leaks claimed that legendary anime One Piece would be coming to the game, but mentioned alongside it was the Final Fantasy series, which would be a huge boon for gamers. Here’s what we know.
Is Final Fantasy coming to Fortnite?
As reported by XboxEra, and reposted by renowned Fortnite leaker HYPEX, Final Fantasy is one of nine possible crossovers that have been leaked for the battle royale title.
Alongside Final Fantasy and One Piece, also mentioned were Doc Ock from Spider-Man, He-Man from Masters of the Universe, Peace Maker, The Fantastic 4, Robin, Magneto, and Cyclops.
In terms of what skins we could get in a Fortnite x Final Fantasy crossover, that remains a little more unclear. There are two possible games it could be linked to though: February’s Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, or June’s Final Fantasy XVI.
Should they be promoting the remake of the 1990s classic, we expect to see classic characters like Cloud Strife, Barret Wallace, and the always-popular Tifa Lockhart. If this crossover event is happening later in the year, we could see Clive Rosfield arrive in the game instead.
Does the leaked Fortnite x Final Fantasy crossover have a release date?
Unfortunately, there is no current release date for any Final Fantasy crossover event in Fortnite. Epic Games often tease these events before they happen, but with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles running at the minute, we don’t expect any news soon.
