The most recent gameplay trailer for Hogwarts Legacy revealed a plethora of details for the Harry Potter-inspired game. Fans got to see how the game’s mechanics will work, gameplay scenes of magical fights and the main character interacting with other students and the castle itself. As one would expect, the main character was the star of the show. Hogwarts Legacy is a third-person RPG, which means players will see and customize their character to the fullest extent. One lingering question that some fans have, though, is how old is the main character in Hogwarts Legacy?

This is actually an important tidbit of information when it comes to the Wizarding World. A student’s age at Hogwarts determines what year they’re in, and could also play a role in what classes the player takes. While the more in-depth details behind the main character were kept a secret, the developers did let players know how old they are in the game.

The age of your character in Hogwarts Legacy

As some players might have picked up during the trailer, your character is in their fifth year at Hogwarts. Since first years are age 11 when they first come to Hogwarts, this means that the main character is roughly 15 years old in Hogwarts Legacy.

However, when you take control of this character, you’ll learn that they are a new student at Hogwarts. This means you have to go through the Sorting Hat process with the first years to get placed into your House. Luckily, you will get to pick which House you get sorted into.

Once your House is chosen, you will join your fellow classmates in your specific House Commonroom. From here, you’ll join the other fifth years in classes and activities across the castle. The companions you can make in Hogwarts Legacy could also be fellow fifth years, but that hasn’t been confirmed.

As the trailer revealed, you will have a lot of catching up to do once you get to Hogwarts. So be prepared to pay attention in class and memorize the tricky routes of the castle in Hogwarts Legacy.
