Halo Infinite’s multiplayer technical preview gave fans of the franchise an insight into what the game’s future battle pass system will look like. Including experience boosts, challenge swaps, and customization options for Spartans, the Halo Infinite battle pass is a must-have for the player that wants to stand out in the loading screen and on the battlefield.
The battle pass featured in the technical preview consists of 30 tiers to grind through, something uncommon for other games. Titles like Fortnite and Call of Duty have upwards of 100 tiers of their battle passes. However, titles like Teamfight Tactics and VALORANT have somewhat shorter passes at 45 and 50 tiers.
Halo Infinite’s free tiers in the battle pass
The 30 tier battle pass consists of 17 free tiers, meaning fans that don’t purchase the pass can unlock over half of the total available items. Of those 17 free tiers, nine of them are cosmetic options for Spartans including visors, armor coating, and armor parts. In addition to those cosmetic items, players will also be given challenge swaps for completing the free portion of the pass. One item that is missing from the non-paid side of the pass is the experience boost, which are only available to players who purchase the pass.
Halo Infinite’s purchasable tiers
Those who want to purchase the battle pass for Halo Infinite will be able to unlock the eight experience boost shards which are unavailable to the free users of the pass. They will also receive additional visors, armor coatings, and helmets beyond what is available in the free tiers. What is missing in Halo’s battle pass is credits to purchase a battle pass in the following season. Whether or not these credits are available varies from pass to pass, depending on the title. In Fortnite and Call of Duty, players can earn back the credits they spent if they complete the pass. However, like in VALORANT and Teamfight Tactics, those credits are not refunded. Instead a new currency for upgrades replaces them.
