Toronto’s downtown EB Games drew in hundreds of excited fans this weekend, all for an exclusive meet-and-greet with Toronto Defiant. The Overwatch League team arrived in town for their first time ever, now in pre-season mode.

The team didn’t just come to meet with their many fans – they also took part in a video and photo shoot, which we’ll see rolled out across all official social media. It’s incredible to think that over 300+ fans made it out to the event to show their love and support for Toronto’s latest esports team. Many got the opportunity to meet the Defiant, take pictures, and score some autographs as well.

Gearing up for the new season

Toronto Defiant begins the 2019 Overwatch season pretty soon. On February 15, they will be facing the Houston Outlaws in Los Angeles at the Blizzard Arena.

Defiant has a busy few months ahead of them. They’re scheduled to face off against London Spitfire, the 2018 Overwatch League champions, on June 14. Hopefully all that training pays off. After that match, Toronto Defiant heads to Atlanta on July 6 to battle it out with Reign during one of their three away games for the league’s 2019 season. Also of note, there’s an all-Canadian match against the Vancouver Titans scheduled for May 3.

Last October at EGLX, Toronto Defiant made their official debut to the world of esports. Things have continued to go strong for them ever since.

As a local Torontonian myself, I have to say how awesome it is to see my city represented in the world of professional esports. In the past few months, we’ve covered this new team extensively. We had an exclusive interview with Toronto Defiant’s President and CEO, as well as all the players who were recently added to the roster. You can check out the team’s full 2019 schedule above and, as always, we will keep you updated right here on Daily Esports!
