Warriors Gaming Squad took a chance on the Chicago native and drafted her in the fourth round of the 2019 NBA 2K League Draft with the 56th overall pick. Chiquita is a rookie to the 2K League stage, but she has been a familiar face in the 2K scene for quite a while.

Evans was called into action after starting center Xavier “Type” Vescovi did not make the trip with the team after reported discomfort held him from competing. Vescovi recorded a double-double (10 rebounds and 13 points) in Warriors Gaming Squad’s lone game last week against Pistons GT.

Chiquita making history

Suiting up at center for the Warriors versus Blazer5 Gaming, Chiquita scored her first points on a corner three-point attempt just two minutes into the game. After the pregame jitters went away, Chiquita finished the game with six points, three rebounds, and two steals. Warriors Gaming Squad lost to the talented Blazer5 squad in its first game of the day, 64-53.

The second game of the night for Evans and Warriors Gaming Squad was a complete reversal from the previous game. Warriors Gaming Squad jumped out to an early double-digit lead and never let up versus Cavs Legion GC. Chiquita contributed nine points and four rebounds. The Warriors closed the week with a 74-55 win.

Chiquita was seen throughout the broadcast in both games being a vocal leader within the team. She also held a calm demeanor on the big stage. When asked on Wednesday’s broadcast about her thoughts Tuesday night going into Wednesday, Evans had just one thought, “Tomorrow is game day!”

Warriors Gaming Squad heads into week three of the regular season with a 2-1 record. Fans must wait two weeks to see the group play again as the team has next week off. Warriors Gaming Squad is back in action May 2 against Wizards District Gaming.
