Season 4 of Apex Legends has been praised for a multitude of reasons since its release. The map changes, the new content in Revenant and the Sentinel, and overall meta fixes have kept many players engaged. Although, like with most large updates, even with all of the bug fixes, it was inevitable that more would arrive. This remains true with the Season 4 update, as console players have been complaining about some lag and freezing issues. However, these issues appear to be coming to a halt, according to one Respawn developer.

Console issues coming to an end in Apex Legends

Since Tuesday’s update, both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players have been experiencing major issues when attempting to play Apex Legends. The game will constantly freeze up and become unplayable for long periods of time. In addition to this, full-on crashes will occur at any given point in a match. This Reddit post displays the problems perfectly.

The state of Apex right now. It is absolutely unplayable on console. Every single game it freezes and lags randomly. This is what I experience all the time from apexlegends

This is, obviously, a huge problem for console players. The freezes are accompanied by consistent lag, leading to irritations across the board. Respawn was made aware of this issue very early on in Season 4 but didn’t choose to comment until now. One developer, Josh Medina, provides an answer that makes all console players hopeful.

It’s unclear what exactly this update will consist of. Perhaps it’s an actual title update or a smaller hot fix to patch this one issue. We’re leaning towards the latter, as Respawn doesn’t deploy title updates in back-to-back weeks too often. This update will most likely be a hot fix that requires no additional download. It’s also possible that some other bug fixes will be included in the update as well.
