Zenless Zone Zero 1.2: What to expect from the upcoming update

Zenless Zone Zero’s 1.2 update takes players to the Outer Ring with new characters, factions, and exciting gameplay additions (you can ride a bike!).

HoYoverse is once again venturing into the desert, but this time, it’s not in Genshin Impact’s Sumeru region. The Zenless Zone Zero 1.2 update, titled Tour de Inferno, takes players beyond New Eridu and into the barren region of the Outer Ring. Along with new characters like Caesar and Burnice, the game also adds the ability to ride motorcycles in the game.

What’s new in Zenless Zone Zero 1.2

One of the biggest highlights of this update for me is the introduction of a new area (and the ability to ride a bike there, of course). Up until now, Zenless Zone Zero has primarily focused on New Eridu. The Outer Ring, a desert region beyond the city, is filled with fuel resources and serves as a battleground for competing factions.

This update introduces motorcycles to the game. Fast-travelling vehicles/mounts are a heavily requested feature, so this was a long-awaited addition to a HoYoverse title. Players can ride a bike to explore the Outer Ring faster, although this feature is limited to that specific area. Given HoYoverse’s love for desert themes, it’ll be interesting to see how they approach this one for the second time.

New characters and a look into the Sons of Calydon faction

The Sons of Calydon biker gang, led by Caesar King, will be the focus for the patch’s story. This faction rules the Outer Ring and carries a Mad Max-like vibe.

New characters include Caesar, an S-Rank Physical Defense Agent, brings shielding buffs and can debuff enemies. Burnice White, another new S-Rank addition, deals fire damage with dual flamethrowers and can Burn enemies with accumulated Anomaly Buildup.

The Bangboo Red Moccus will also be introduced in this patch, who rides a custom motorcycle.
