After months of tests, delays, and anticipation, we finally have news on when we can expect to get our hands on XDefiant, Ubisoft’s entry into the FPS market.
The game was originally supposed to launch in the summer of 2023, but development issues and problems that emerged during public tests saw it pushed back. Just as hype grew again, an issue with XDefiant’s party system meant that the developers needed even more time, leaving fans concerned that they had missed their window after the releases of MW3 and The Finals.
While there still hasn’t been an official announcement of a release date, we finally have an idea of when we can get our hands on it—and it’s not too far away.
When is XDefiant coming out?
XDefiant is set to release before March 31, 2024. That means that we can expect to see it within the next two months, and an announcement surely isn’t too far away now.
We know this thanks to XDefiant Alerts on Twitter, who revealed that in a document from a Ubisoft investment meeting, Season 0 was listed for between January and March. Unfortunately, we don’t have an exact release date just yet, but at least we now have an idea of when we’ll get it, which is a lot better than the limbo we had been left in. We’ll be sure to update this article as soon as we get a confirmed date from Ubisoft.
With so many delays, it will be interesting to see what the hype is like when XDefiant finally comes out. With games like The Finals and MW3 releasing late last year, and CS2 and VALORANT dominant on PC, it’s tough to see where XDefiant can break into the FPS market. After such a long wait, players may have just moved on, and it may simply be too late for Ubisoft to bring them back to their title.
