Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone is coming to a close, and that means that a brand new installment of content is quickly approaching. Season 6 of MW2 and Warzone very well could be the last before the arrival of MW3 in early November. This is important to remember as most of MW2’s content will be transferring over to MW3, so you want to ensure to unlock every weapon and Operator possible.
While we know Season 6 is just over the horizon, players have naturally been wondering about an exact release date. Below, I will go into detail about the unofficial release date for Season 6 and what content players can expect to see when it arrives.
The release date for Season 6 of MW2 and Warzone
At the time of writing, Activision has not put out an official trailer or blog post regarding Season 6. However, thanks to the in-game timer in MW2 and Warzone, we know that there are only a handful of days until Season 6 launches.
According to that timer, MW2 and Warzone Season 6 will launch on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Of course, this date isn’t set in stone until Activision officially confirms it through a blog post or on social media. However, the in-game timer is rarely wrong in COD, so I’m taking its countdown date as close to as official as possible.
When Season 6 does eventually arrive, players can expect to see the normal slate of content. There will be two weapons featured on the new Battle Pass in addition to exclusive Operators, both in the store and through the Blackcell version of the pass. There will also be some new multiplayer maps and possibly changes to one or more of the Warzone maps.
Finally, weapon balancing should come into play with the Season 6 update in addition to bug fixes. We don’t the specifics of any of the content as of yet, but as the release date for Season 6 draws closer, we will learn exactly what’s coming. Until then, players can enjoy the final days of Season 5.
