Announced a while ago, the Looking For Group (LFG) system is still in development — even after the launch of Destiny 2 Lightfall. When the feature goes live, it will help players find other ones looking for a fireteam, making it easier to complete some of the tougher quests you can’t do alone. But what is the LFG system, how does it work, and when is it coming to Destiny 2?
What is the LFG system?
As mentioned earlier, the LFG system is a Bungie-provided system that allows players to quickly find others online. While there is a matchmaking system already in Destiny 2 for things like PvP and Vanguard, some of the tougher missions require invites. For example, if you want to complete the secret exotic quest line from Lightfall to get the Vexcalibur glaive, you have to do it either alone or with invited friends. A tough mission like that is hard to do alone, so an LFG system would expedite the process.
Bungie knows this and already announced that it is on the way. Fans expected it to be introduced alongside the latest expansion Lightfall, but with its launch now in the past, still no LFG system.
When is the LFG system coming to Destiny 2?
Known as the Fireteam Finder, the Bungie team are still developing the LFG system. That same team confirmed that the Fireteam Finder will not be available until the last season of 2023.
This means that fans who want to find players to grind some of the tougher aspects of Destiny 2 will have to do it the old-fashioned way, at least until later this year.
