Before the release of eFootball PES 2020, UEFA struck a deal with Konami on having this year’s Euro tournament come exclusively to the football simulator. This meant that holders of the latest iteration of Konami’s football sim on all platforms would receive the DLC for free on April 30. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic and the cancellation of this year’s Euro Cup, the DLC has also been postponed until further notice.
Coronavirus pandemic also affecting DLC
The official eFootball PES Twitter has posted a notice regarding the current situation. In short, due to the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament being postponed paired with “the latest state of emergency in Japan,” the initial April 30 release of the DLC on all platforms is currently not possible. This may be the first major DLC for a AAA video game that had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 virus.
Additionally, the physical version of the video game with a UEFA Euro 2020 cover for PlayStation 4 has also been scrapped. Avid collectors of rare box covers will have to go about without a limited edition of Euro PES 2020. Fortunately, the two stadiums for the cup alongside a special face pack that was promised will be added in a Data Pack on all platforms.

UEFA eEuro 2020 finals now online
In the announcement, details of the UEFA eEuro 2020 esports tournament have also been provided. The final, which was supposed to take place in London from May 23, will now take place online instead. Yet another esports tournament that was meant to take place live had to be moved online due to the coronavirus pandemic. Thankfully, the tournament was not entirely canceled.
