The 2022 eMajor League Soccer Cup presented by Coca-Cola will be an official event of the South by Southwest in Austin on Mar. 13. SXSW is known for its conferences and festivals to celebrate the convergence of tech, film, music and culture.
“SXSW is an iconic Austin event,” Andy Loughnane, Austin FC President said. “EMLS Cup will deliver a new layer of competitive gaming within SXSW, offering the opportunity for soccer and gaming fans to converge at one of the city’s most legendary venues.”
The eMLS Cup will mark the return of LAN events for the first time in two years. “After two years of being remote, our competitors will once again have the thrill of competing in front of an audience,” Bion West, Director of Properties at MLS said. “Our fans whether attending in-person or watching remotely will experience an energy unique to eMLS live events.”

The 2022 eMLS will see the top 12 league players compete for three FIFA Global Series Playoffs spots. Each player will represent an MLS team and compete on the main stage of Austin City Limits Live for the eMLS trophy and a share of the $35,000 prize pool. The top three players will qualify for the FIFA 22 Global Series Playoffs. Also, the competition is free to attend and will be played exclusively on PlayStation 5 consoles.
Furthermore, DoorDash will be revealed as an official partner of the eMLS Cup. All eMLS sponsors will provide unique in-person and digital experiences for fans and players.
This experience will include a Pringles eMLS player lounge and an exclusive FIFA tournament for fans. Aside from this, Adidas will give away custom eMLS themed Stan Smith shoes to fans in attendance. Artist Geoff Gouveia will also capture the excitement of the Cup in a mural painted live during the event. Moreover, Austin FC will host an after-party featuring a live concert from a surprise musical guest.
How to earn rewards viewing the Cup
Fans not able to attend the 2022 eMLS Cup at SXWS can still earn viewership rewards. Anyone who views the Cup for 30 minutes can earn an eMLS crest, FGS player swap for 60 minutes and an eMLS TIFO after viewing for 90 minutes. Viewers can also earn FIFA points and MLS jerseys by engaging with polls and trivia on the Sport Buff extension. The eMLS Cup will be live on MLS Twitch and Twitter Channels at 3 p.m ET.
