The NBA 2K League just got a lot tastier, thanks to a new partnership between the league and Snickers. Mars Inc.’s Snickers bar has now been named the official league chocolate bar. The announcement began last week on their YouTube and Twitch channels through an activation called SNICKERS “Hungriest Player to Watch”.

New activation details

The point of this activation was to choose the player who has “the most on the line” and the “most to prove”. This special activation is set to continue right throughout the rest of the 2019 season (this includes playoffs and finals). Those interested need not worry about running out of time to participate.

Other chocolate companies involved in esports

Mars Inc. joins a growing list of chocolate bar companies backing competitive esports league teams. Just this past May, iconic brand KIT KAT became the candy patron for the Overwatch League’s Los Angels Valiant. KIT KAT has also been made the entitlement partner for the upcoming “Kit Kat Rivalry Weekend” next month (August 24-25). That will take place as part of Overwatch League’s Homestead series. Feeling hungry yet?

The Hershey Company (who also owns a lot of well-known chocolate bar brands) also made a deal with Twitch earlier this year. Hershey will have an official brand presence at TwitchCon North America, which will take place Sept 27-29 in San Diego. The Reese’s brand will also have a presence there too. These two companies will patron some big key player streams, including Dr. Lupo and his wife as well as TimTheTatman.

We’ve reported on this growing trend of different companies becoming involved in esports countless times. It’s a trend that isn’t going to slow down anytime soon, as this new deal with Snickers shows. Chocolate bar sales will no doubt go up as well. Everybody wins with a deal like this, don’t you think?
