Rockstar Games has released “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look”, a 26-minute gameplay showcase made with Netflix.
It is the most the studio has shown of the game since the first trailer. It also arrives after a week of leaks Rockstar had no control over.
Netflix holds a six-hour exclusive window on the showcase. After that it goes up on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel, at 3am CEST.
What’s in the 26 minutes
Anyone hoping for a developer documentary will be disappointed. There are no talking heads and no studio walkthrough.
What Rockstar has put out is 26 minutes of gameplay, cut to show off the world and the mission design. Netflix’s own listing confirms the footage was captured on a base PlayStation 5.
The showcase leans hard on the Miami-inspired setting. Vice City is the star for long stretches, and the material swings between quiet character moments and full action set pieces, including bank jobs and police chases through the city.
Lucia and Jason carry the story
The preview follows the game’s two protagonists, Lucia and Jason, a couple working their way up the criminal ladder in Vice City. Rockstar’s pitch is Scarface and Bonnie and Clyde, moved into the present day.
The footage puts real weight on the relationship between the two. The performances hold up under the long, uncut sections Rockstar chose to show, which is not something the series has ever really been asked to do before.
Switching between the pair also looks considerably smoother than it did in GTA 5.
Stealing fast cars and outrunning the police is still in there. But the pitch this time is that there is a story worth following between the chases.
Rockstar breaks its silence on the leaks
The timing is not an accident. Rockstar spent the past week dealing with a run of unauthorised gameplay clips posted by a leaker operating as CyberLeek, and said nothing at all while they spread.
It broke that silence a day before the showcase, calling the leaks “heartbreaking for our team” and apologising to fans for how long the game and its official gameplay have taken to arrive.
The Netflix drop is the follow-through. Rockstar now gets to decide what people are looking at three months out, instead of a leaker doing it for them.

Rockstar has confirmed the November date is unchanged despite the leaks.
With less than three months to go, expect the studio to keep a tight grip on what comes out next. It rarely runs a long marketing campaign, and after the past fortnight it has more reason than usual to fill the space itself.
