Pokémon GO referral program

Pokémon GO referrals now live – How to use your referral codes

After a few weeks of testing in Australia, Pokémon GO referrals are now live globally. This new Pokémon GO referral program offers trainers rewards for referring friends. The program provides in-game items for both the referred trainer and the one providing the code. There are some pretty neat rewards for referrals too.

Refer a friend in Pokémon GO

You can refer a friend in Pokémon GO if it’s their first time signing up to the game. If your friend has taken a break from Pokémon GO, they can also use your referral code. Returning players must have been logged out of Pokémon GO for at least 90 days, which provides some incentive to jump back in.

How to use your referral code

When logged into Pokémon GO, tap your Avatar in the bottom left corner of the screen, then follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your friends tab
  2. Tap “INVITE”
  3. Note your referral code
  4. Share your referral code with a friend.

You can also share referral codes directly to social media by clicking “Share referral code.” As soon as someone enters your code, they will receive 100 Pokéballs to get them started. You as the referring trainer will also receive a reward, 50 Stardust to set you on your way.

Pokémon referral rewards

There’s a good number of other tasks to complete as part of the Pokémon GO referral program, and some welcome items you’ll earn as a result. Players who have used your code will need to hit these milestones to then gain the associated rewards.

  • Defeat three Team GO Rocket Grunts – Pokémon encounter
  • Complete 25 Field Research Tasks – Intense ×1
  • Purify 20 Shadow Pokémon – Rare Candy ×10
  • Defeat a Team GO Rocket Leader – Mega Energy ×50 (this appears to be Charizard Mega Energy)
  • Reach Great Buddy with a Pokémon – Pokémon encounter
  • Reach Ultra Buddy with a Pokémon – Super incubator ×5
  • Visit PokéStops 30 days in a row – Pokémon encounter
  • Trade Pokémon five times – Pidgey stickers ×10
  • Catch 50 Pokémon – Pokémon encounter

Have you started using your referral code? What mystery Pokémon have you encountered? While you’re waiting patiently for your rewards to come in, make sure you’re up to date on all the latest season changes.
