Palworld: Best Lumbering Pals, ranked

Not everyone wants to spend their days in Palworld acting as a Lumberjack. That's why you need to send your Pals with the Lumbering skill off to work.

If you don’t fancy spending your days swinging at trees to get wood, then good news! You can send your captured creatures off to do it for you. Here are the best Pals for Lumbering in Palworld.

There’s a saying in our house: “You don’t keep a dog and bark yourself,” and I’m a big believer in that. Sure, the Pals are cute, but you know what’s even cuter? Getting them to do work for you. In fact, if you haven’t got your little monsters out acquiring resources for you, I would suggest you’re making a big mistake.

One of the tasks that your Pals can do for you is gather wood and fiber. They’ll need the Lumbering Work Skill to perform this task though, so not every creature can do it. Here are the best Pals with the Lumbering skill, depending on where you are in the game.

Best Pal for Lumbering in Palworld: Wumpo Botan

Type: Grass
Skill: Guardian of the Grassy Fields
Work Skills: Planting Level 1, Handiwork Level 2, Lumbering Level 3, Transporting Level 4

For me, the best Lumbering Pal in Palworld right now has to be Wumpo Botan. A variation of the normal Wumpo, which is an Ice Pal, Wumpo Botan has Lumbering Level 3, which is the highest in the game at the moment.

What really makes Wumpo Botan an attractive option, however, is their Transporting Level 4, which means they can carry a ton of wood around for you once they’ve chopped it all down. Handiwork Level 2 is also handy, as it means they can build things for you inside your base too.

Best early-game Lumbering pal in Palworld: Lifmunk

Type: Grass
Skill: Lifmunk Recoil
Work Skills: Planting Level 1, Handiwork Level 1, Lumbering Level 1, Medicine Production Level 1, Gathering Level 1

If you are early in your Palworld adventure, then Lifmunk is the Pal you should look for to help out with your wood collecting.

Obviously, Lumbering Level 1 isn’t ideal, but early on, it’s good enough to keep you going. On top of that, Handiwork Level 1 means they will make things for you, while Gathering Level 1 will keep you stocked up on food. Add in Planting Level 1 and Medicine Production Level 1, and you’ve got all the makings of your best friend in the early game.

Best all-rounder Lumbering Pal in Palworld: Bushi

Type: Fire
Skill: Brandish Blade
Work Skills: Kindling Level 2, Handiwork Level 1, Lumbering Level 3, Transporting Level 2, Gathering Level 1

If you want someone who can do a bit of everything, then look no further than Bushi. They have Lumbering Level 3, making them perfect for chopping wood and grabbing fiber, while Transporting Level 2 makes them good at moving items for you.

On top of that, Kindling Level 2 is always handy to have, while Handiwork and Gathering Level 1 are nice additions too.

Alternative Lumbering Pals in Palworld

Tanzee

Type: Grass
Skill: Cheery Rifle
Work Skills: Planting Level 1, Handiwork Level 1, Lumbering Level 1, Transporting Level 1, Gathering Level 1

Tanzee was very nearly my pick for best early-game Lumbering Pal, but I just gave the edge to Lifmunk because I found them slightly easier to find.

Still, if you find a Tanzee first, you really can’t go wrong. It has almost all the same abilities as Lifmunk, just with Transporting Level 1 instead of Medicine Production Level 1.

Gorirat

Type: Neutral
Skill: Full-power Gorilla Mode
Work Skills: Handiwork Level 1, Lumbering Level 2, Transporting Level 3

Gorirat does one task, and they do it really well. Send them off to chop wood with their Lumbering Level 2, they’ll be able to carry loads with Transporting Level 3, and then use Handiwork Level 1 to build things.

They’re not going to set the world on fire, quite literally, but they’re still very useful to have around.
