Former Blizzard co-founder and CEO, Mike Morhaime, is starting a video game new company with several former Blizzard employees. They are naming the company Dreamhaven and it will have two studios, Moonshot and Secret Door.
Mike Morhaime and Dreamhaven
Mike Morhaime co-founded Blizzard back in 1991. He worked as a CEO for the company until 2018 when he stepped down. Now, at age 52, he has a different goal and company. He started Dreamhaven with the statement: “I’ve always believed in the power of games to bring people together regardless of backgrounds or boundaries. With Dreamhaven, we look forward to creating and sharing new experiences with players everywhere.”
There are already plenty of talented game developers at Dreamhaven. Jason Chayes, one of the leaders of Moonshot Games, led the Hearthstone team and worked as a Senior Director at EA. His partners at Moonshot Games, Dustin Browder and Ben Thompson, have experience working with Starcraft II, Hearthstone, and various other non-Blizzard projects.
Secret Door is led by three more ex-Blizzard employees, Chris Sigaty, Alan Dabiri, and Eric Dodds. Sigaty worked on Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Starcraft II, and was the lead producer of Warcraft III. Dodds worked as the original game Director of Hearthstone along with working on World of Warcraft and Starcraft. Dabiri did work as a with Warcraft III, Starcraft II, and Heroes of the Storm.
Mike Morhaime has plenty of talented people working alongside him. It will be interesting to see just what kinds of games they hope to create.

Don’t get your hopes up for anything soon, however. It will probably be a matter of months before we hear anything from Dreamhaven (unless they have been working behind closed doors). It will probably be years before we see any finished products.
Either way, it gives gaming fans something to look forward to for the future.
