Former League of Legends pro player Lâm “k0u” Tịnh Trì, who had recently been going by the name Kenneth Dawnix, passed away on Sunday, December 1st, 2019. The news was broken by k0u’s former teammate, Nikolai “Mood” Martinsen, and was later confirmed by Giants Gaming. A cause of death has not yet been made public.

Difficult final weeks
A few weeks prior to his death, k0u failed an attempt at suicide. He was hospitalized after the event and eventually recovered and was discharged. On November 21, he submitted a post to his new Instagram channel with the following caption:
Got discharged yesterday🙏⠀
Feelings of hopelessness is still there, I guess it doesn’t disappear that easily. ⠀
For now, I will just dedicate myself to fitness and focus on the goals I set for myself.⠀
I want to thank everyone who reached out and people that shared their perspective. ⠀
It was truly helpful, which made me reflect on things I didn’t know beforehand. ⠀
This gave me a different view on life and that made me want to continue.

In the time surrounding his suicide attempt, k0u was very open with his feelings on social media and to those that reached out to him. He submitted a very detailed and revealing blog post that gave people some insight into what he was going through. As a result, many concerned fans reached out on many different platforms. Some even mentioned having private conversations with him where he seemed to be improving.
A long career cut short
Despite being just 22 years old at the time of his passing, k0u had a long League of Legends career that started in Season 3 back in 2013. In the six years since, he competed with a long list of organizations. These teams included Cloud9 Eclipse, Ninjas in Pyjamas and Giants Gaming. Appearing with so many major organizations, k0u had the opportunity to play alongside many prominent pros. Former teammates of k0u’s include players like Alexey “Alex Ich” Ichetovkin, Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage, Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu, Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten, Luka “Perkz” Perković, Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen, and founder of G2 Esports, Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez Santiago.
After news of his passing was first revealed by his niece through former teammate Nikolai “Mood” Martinsen, many of k0u’s friends and former teammates made statements expressing their grief and offering their respects.
Noman “Nomi” Ahmad of Riddle Esports said: “May your soul rest peacefully after all the misery this world gave you. Ill see you soon buddy.”
Adrián “Adryh” Pérez González, who teamed with k0u on Giants Gaming, said: “We didn’t have the time to create many memories together, but I’ll make sure each one of them stays alive within me for the rest of my life. I hope you’ve found peace. We’ll meet again soon enough. R.I.P.”
Kristoffer “P1noy” Pedersen, a former Copenhagen Wolves teammate added: “It was an honor having you in my life and the time we spent together, I cherish all those moments! Here is the only picture of us together after our quick 3-0 against Millenium in 2016 spring!”
