How to unlock Fallen Hope in The First Descendant: A step-by-step Guide

The Fallen Hope assault rifle give you something reliable to depend on as this game gets harder and harder. But it’s no easy feat to unlock this rifle. It takes a fair bit of farming, but it’s certainly worth it at the end of the day.

When can I unlock the Fallen Hope Assault Rifle?

You’ll need to have all the areas of White-night Gulch unlocked first. That means you would have to beat The Devourer first. Luckily, I have a guide for you on exactly how to defeat The Devourer in The First Descendant.

Progressing through White-night Gulch can be pretty challenging. I recommend using a public lobby and getting others to help out (and, in-turn, you’ll be helping out other players too). Once you get to the Lower Hatchery mission, you have all you need. However, I do recommend that you give the Bio Lab mission a try, since that’s where I got a high-level machine gun that helped me unlock the Fallen Hope.

You need four parts, and none of them require research (which is nice) — but you will need to farm them from missions. Unless you’re really, really lucky and got all the parts on the first try. The parts are:

  • Fallen Hope Polymer Syncutium
  • Fallen Hope Synthetic Fiber
  • Fallen Hope Nano Tube
  • Fallen Hope Blueprint

Now let’s look at where to find each of these materials.

You can find the Polymer Syncytium in White-night Gulch in The Mountaintops. The mission you’re looking for is the Border Line of Truth, and it’s a barrier mission. It can be pretty tough, but armed with the machine gun you get from the Bio-Lab, it’s not so bad. However, it did take me about 6 tries to get it, and I think I was pretty lucky.

You’ll find the Synthetic Fiber for the Fallen Hope in the Observatory of White-night Gulch. You’ll need to do the mission Eye of Truth. You’ll likely need to do it a few times, but I got really lucky here and got it on the first try.

The Nano Tube for the Fallen Hope can be found in the Shipment Base area of White-night Gulch. You’ll need to do the Altar mission which involves fetching samples from fallen enemies and taking them back to the container. It’s not all that difficult, but again, the drop rate is only 20% (which doesn’t always feel like 2-% in this game).

Where to find Fallen Hope Blueprint

This one is tough, so come prepared with plenty of toxic resistance. You’ll need to go to the Hatchery in White-night Gulch to get the Blueprint for the Fallen Hope assault rifle. The mission you’re looking for is Lower Hatchery, and it can be a pain to get to, since it’s through a building. Just keep heading down though and you’ll find it just outside.

It’s a pretty challenging mission to beat, but with the machine gun and Ajax, I only died once solo.

If you’re starting with none of the materials, expect to spend at least two hours farming for the Fallen Hope. On top of that, it’s got a research time of four hours. Luckily, you don’t need any Amorphous Material Patterns to unlock it, so it’s easier to get than the Divine Punishment.
