Baldur’s Gate 3 has a sprawling map that’s full of secrets. This includes a magical area called the Underdark, a world hidden beneath the surface of the main map.

The Underdark has its own creatures, characters, and quests. You’ll also need to enter the Underdark to progress to Act 2, an alternative to the mountain pass. Here are all the ways to find the Underdark.

The different ways to find the Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3

There are multiple ways to get into the Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3. Here are some of them.

Whispering Depths Dungeon

This dungeon is near the Blighted Village waypoint. You’ll see a well you can get into, eventually making your way down to the Underdark. But first, you’ll reach a dungeon that’s filled with spiders and the Phase Spider Matriarch.

Defiled Temple

Head northwest of the Goblin Camp  to find the Shattered Sanctum. Inside, you will need to get past two goblins to reach a locked door that has the Priestess Gut’s private room behind it. Sneak past them and unlock the door with a lockpick if you don’t feel like fighting. Inside the room, you’ll need to search until you find the Defiled Temple. Solve a stone puzzle on the ground to open the door to the Underdark.

Auntie Ethel’s Portal

If you’re in the bog area in the south of the map, you can talk to Auntie Ethal in her Teahouse. If you interact with her correctly, you’ll be able to head to the fireplace in her home, which leads to a bunch of obstacles in a series of tunnels. At the end, you’ll find Auntie Ethal with a woman she has trapped, named Myrina. You’ll need to defeat Auntie Ethel.

Zhentarium Hideout Elevator

You’ll find a shed in a town named Waukeen’s Rest located west of the Risen Road waypoint. Head past the burning inn and under the nearby covered bridge, passing a dead ox. You’ll eventually get to a shed with crates in front of its entrance. Talk to the guards and then keep going underground. You will eventually have to use a lockpick to open a wardrobe if you want to keep heading further underground. Eventually, you’ll reach Zarys and other members of the hideout and you’ll need to pass a check. If you do, an illusory door will be revealed. use another lockpick on the elevator within.
