Join in at home or in-preson

Every year, Niantic brings together Pokémon GO fans for its largest annual in-person gatherings during Pokémon GO Fest. The event gives players the opportunity to congregate and play the game together while also gaining access to unique Pokémon and rewards that might not otherwise be available to players around the world.

Another Fest is on the horizon for this year, giving fans yet another opportunity to participate. This includes both in-person and online aspects, giving players the chance to play along no matter where they are in the world.

Here’s what you need to know about Pokémon GO Fest 2023 and how you can participate.

What is Pokémon GO Fest 2023?

Pokémon GO Fest 2023 will be a global in-game event offering “double the adventures, double the exclusive gameplay opportunities, and even some mythical surprises.” Niantic has not yet announced specific details about the gameplay during the event, although it is clear that there will be opportunities available to participants that trainers won’t have access to without joining the event.

The event will take place in multiple segments from August 4 through 27. It will include three in-person gatherings on three different continents, along with a digital portion that anyone can take part in. Here are the dates for each portion of the event:

  • August 4-6: Live events in London, England, and Osaka, Japan
  • August 18-20: Live event in New York City
  • August 26-27: Global event that anyone can join regardless of their location

While the Fest is generally a ticketed event that players will have to pay to enter, some portions of the event will be available even for players without a ticket. So, while the depth of the experience will vary for each person, anyone who plays Pokémon GO should be able to participate in this year’s event to some degree.

How to participate

To take part in the full experience of Pokémon GO Fest 2023, trainers will have to go online to buy a ticket. Tickets have already sold out for the event in Osaka, but players can still purchase tickets for the live gatherings in London and New York.

After selecting the event they would like to attend, trainers must select the day they would like a pass for and the time frame during which they would like to be at the event. They must also indicate their mobile service provider and connect their Pokémon GO account.

Tickets are available for $25 until June 15. If any tickets remain after June 15, their prices will rise to $30. After selecting their tickets, trainers will also have the opportunity to add other merch and gameplay experiences to their cart before paying.

Meanwhile, tickets for the online global event are available in-game for $15. Regardless of where you live, the global event will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in your time zone. In addition, there’s no limit to the number of available global event tickets, so you don’t need to worry about buying a ticket before they sell out.

In fact, you can wait until the event has already begun to buy a ticket if you so choose as tickets will be available until 4 p.m. in your time zone on August 27.
