What is Quidditch?
Quidditch is a fictional sport created for the “Harry Potter” books. It involves players flying around on enchanted broomsticks while trying to score points by throwing a leather ball known as a Quaffle into one of the opposing teams’ three hoops, with each goal awarding 10 points. At the end of the game, the team with the most points wins.
A Quidditch team consists of the following roles:
- Three Chasers who are charged with scoring points
- Two Keepers who are charged with blocking the other team’s goals
- Two Beaters who are charged with protecting their teammates from flying balls known as Bludgers
- One Seekers who is charged with catching a small, magical ball known as a Golden Snitch that erratically flies around the oval-shaped pitch, with a successful capture immediately ending the game and awarding the Seeker’s team 150 points
