How to get Greninja from Tera Raid Battles in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Another old starter's final evolution is coming to Paldea

Another familiar Pokémon from the past that is normally unable to be caught in Scarlet and Violet, Greninja, is coming via Tera Raid Battles. Coming from the seventh generation of Pokémon, the final evolution of the water starter is coming to Paldea. Greninja has grown in popularity ever since their introduction, so much so that they can be played in Super Smash Bros. Now, in late January 2023, Greninja will be available via Tera Raid Battles in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

When and how to get Greninja in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

From Jan. 27 to 30 and from Feb. 10 to 13 from the final weekend of the month, Greninja will be available from Tera Raid Battles. To start, players will need to find a seven-star Poison-Type Tera Raid to fight a level 100 Greninja. These powerful raid battles are more noticeable via the in-game map than regular ones, with more of an aura around them. Fighting them will be tough, and after doing that, Greninja will be catchable.

Like previous limited-time Tera Raid Battle events, each account will be able to catch one Greninja. Afterwards, the only way to get multiple Greninjas on one account is from breeding or trade.

Also like previous Tera Raid events, this update will arrive automatically for players connected to the internet. One way to check on the update is from the Poké Portal in-game. When accessing that online section of the menu, the update will go through the player’s account.
