Add a powerful pseudo-legendary Pokémon to your team

Amid the ongoing Masters Tournament in the “Pokémon Journeys: The Series” anime, The Pokémon Company has opened up a new event that allows Pokémon Sword and Shield players to obtain Ash’s Dragonite. As the face of the anime for the past 25 years, Ash Ketchum is undoubtedly one of the most iconic characters in the entire Pokémon franchise.

Now, players can add one of his strongest Pokémon to their teams ahead of the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Here’s everything to know about getting Ash’s Dragonite in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

How to get the pseudo-legendary Pokémon

This special Dragonite is available as a Mystery Gift. To receive it, players must open up the main menu by pressing the X button, then select the “Mystery Gift” button. From there, they must press “Get with Code/Password” and connect to the internet.

Afterward, trainers must enter the code UM1N0KESH1N. This code will expire at 10:59 a.m. ET on September 8. As a result, players need to take advantage of this limited-time promotion within the next couple of weeks if they want to add this pseudo-legendary Pokémon to their teams.

What to know about Ash’s Dragonite in Pokémon Sword and Shield

In Pokémon Sword and Shield, Ash’s Dragonite will have the Jolly Nature. This Nature boosts its Speed and lowers its Special Attack. The Dragonite will also be immune to flinching, thanks to its Inner Focus Ability.

The Pokémon will arrive at level 80 with four moves: Dragon Claw, Draco Meteor, Hurricane and Dragon Dance. However, considering it has a Nature that lowers its Special Attack, trainers may wish to drop the special moves Draco Meteor and Hurricane. Using TRs, they could replace these attacks with physical moves like Superpower or Iron Head.

This is the second of Ash Ketchum’s Pokémon to join the games during the Masters Tournament, following his Dracovish. Sword and Shield players can also look forward to event distributions for Ash’s Gengar, Sirfetch’d and Lucario in the coming weeks.
