How to find Spicy Peppers in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Spicy Peppers keeps the cold away

Food is an essential part of your journey in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Not only can it keep you healthy, increase your attack power and defense, and boost your stamina to new heights, but food can ensure that you don’t die a horrible death to the frigid environments of Hyrule.

If you have begun playing Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, then you’ll know the area you start in is freezing and will have Link receiving the “Unbearable Cold” debuff rather quickly. Luckily, players can combat that with warm foods in Tears of the Kingdom, which are primarily made with Spicy Peppers.

I was able to make it through the entire opening section of the game without taking a single tick of cold damage once I was able to find some Spicy Peppers. The food by itself offers a 2:30 minute cold resistance buff when cooked at a fire. However, this resistance can be dramatically increased when you combine Spicy Peppers with other ingredients.

If you’re tired of being cold in Tears of the Kingdom, then read our guide below for all the tips on finding Spicy Peppers.

If you have yet to find any Spicy Peppers, they have the appearance of a giant red pepper with a green stem hanging off a light brown branch growing out of the ground. If you zoom in on them with your camera, the game will indicate exactly what they are. This is important to find more Spicy Peppers in Tears of the Kingdom. You want to take a picture of the peppers when the nameplate of it appears on screen. Take the picture with the nameplate up, and then this will be added to your Compendium.

You can then open your map and press “Y” to open the Compendium. From here, press the Spicy Peppers option and your Sensor will track where the food is on the map. You can now head back into the game and look at the bottom right-hand side of your screen. The Sensor will tell you exactly where you need to go to find your target, which is the Spicy Peppers. As you approach your target, you will hear a pinging sound that becomes amplified the closer you get.

Of course, you won’t have the camera or Sensor right from the start of Tears of the Kingdom. That is unlocked after speaking to Robbie the Researcher and Josha in Lookout Landing, which you should reach after an hour or two of gameplay. However, you might need to progress the main story further before having the option to talk to them about the camera. Speaking to them initiates a new questline that will give you access to both the camera and the Sensor.

With those items, you can now farm Spicy Peppers with ease in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Prior to getting those items, you will have to look around random parts of the map to find Spicy Peppers. Although, I found that the Ice Mountain and particularly the area around Gutanbac Shrine held a ton of Spicy Peppers, so you should start there first.
