Do you need a Rogue for your band of misfits in Baldur’s Gate 3? Look no further than Astarion, the pale elf with a quick wit and the driest sense of humor imaginable. Astarion is available to add to your party in Baldur’s Gate 3 within the first hour of gameplay, so if you want to make use of the Rogue’s services right away, you can do so with ease.
Still, this doesn’t mean that finding Astarion is simple. The Rogue is located in a specific spot on the map and you need to head there before certain events transpire for a chance to add him to your party. Below, you can read my guide about exactly where to find Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3 so you can begin the Pale Elf companion quest.
Finding Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3
As soon as you crash from the nautiloid ship and onto the mainland, you will be able to track down Astarion. I first recommend finding Shadowheart, if you rescued her from her pod, who is just north of your position on the beach. This will make future fights with enemies much simpler.
With or without Shadowheart, you need to head north and then through the remains on the nautiloid ship to the west. On the other side of the broken ship, you will be able to find Astarion crying for help on a dirt path. His exact position on the map is shown in the map screenshot below.
Your first encounter with Astarion won’t go according to plan with a lucky dice roll and some dialogue, but after a few minutes, you can add him to your party if you wish. Astarion is a Rogue who is perfect for opening locked doors, sneaking around enemies, and attacking from the shadows in combat.
