How to complete Destiny 2’s Sepulcher Master Lost Sector

Farm this Hive hideaway for targeted exotic armor

Master Lost Sectors in Destiny 2 have become one of the easiest ways to farm targeted exotic armor, and that’s still the case in The Witch Queen expansion. With Sepulcher, Metamorphosis and Extraction entering the daily Legend and Master Lost Sector rotation, it’s time to look at what Savathûn’s Throne World has to offer at the highest level of difficulty.

Sepulcher debuted in the Lost Sector rotation on March 3 with targeted farming for exotic head armor. The Lost Sector seems like a death trap on face value because of the tight corridors and multiple angles of attack in the more open rooms. But Sepulcher could actually be one of the easier Master Lost Sectors for Guardians who can take it slow.

Here’s a look at what to expect from the Sepulcher Master Lost Sector, as well as loadout options and tips for getting through, in order to get a better shot at some exotic gear.

What to expect in the Sepulcher Master Lost Sector

General info

Sepulcher is located in the Fluorescent Canal on Savathûn’s Throne World and is one of three Lost Sectors added to Destiny 2 in the most recent expansion. It is a Hive Lost Sector, meaning that on higher difficulties you’ll see Arc shields for non-Champion Hive Knights and Solar shields on Hive Wizards.

On Master difficulty, the Solar shielded Wizards are removed in favor of additional Champions, so there’s a bit more variety to how you can gear up for Sepulcher as a Master Lost Sector.

Champions
  • Barrier Hive Knight
  • Unstoppable Ogre
  • Note: Light-wielding Hives (there are two of them in this Lost Sector) don’t have Champion stun mechanics, but they do give resurrection tokens when killed like a Champion would.
Shields
  • Arc and Solar on Legend difficulty, Arc only on Master

Sepulcher features three bigger encounter rooms, tucked between tight hallways, that offer one way in and one way out for most of the fights. This can seem like a disadvantage, but using the entryways to your advantage can make this Lost Sector a breeze on Legend or Master difficulty.

Here’s a breakdown of what to expect in each room of Sepulcher on Master:

  • Entryway: One Arc-shielded Knight and several Acolytes
  • Room 1: Acolytes and two Barrier Knights. A Light-bearing Wizard will spawn once the Barrier Knights are dead.
  • Second corridor: Several Acolytes and one Barrier Knight that will retreat to the next room
  • Room 2: Two Unstoppable Ogres, several Thrall and about a dozen Acolytes that will spawn once the Barrier Knight is dead. Then, a Light-bearing Acolyte will spawn once one of the Unstoppable Ogres dies, along with another wave of normal Acolytes.
  • Third corridor: No enemies.
  • Room 3: Boss room. You’ll have a bunch of Thrall, multiple waves of Acolytes and two Barrier Knights in this room along with the big guy. Take it slow and, once the boss is up, pull back into the third corridor and force the enemies to funnel toward the entryway. It’s not the fastest way to get a clear, but it’s the safest.

Loadout tips for the Sepulcher Master Lost Sector

The Witch Queen gave Void classes some great tools for solo and group content, and Void 3.0 Hunters and Devour Warlocks should be able to cruise through the Master version of the Sepulcher Lost Sector. However, the lack of Void shielding in Sepulcher means strategies like using Suppressive Glaive, as well as cutting through Knight shields, make it tougher for Titans, who don’t have as many burst damage options for finishing off Champions or bosses.

Season of the Risen gave us Anti-Barrier mod options for scout rifles and bows, but neither of those weapons hit particularly hard when a Barrier champion pops their shield, and chipping away with either primary weapon leaves you vulnerable. Arbalest is still the best anti-Barrier option, particularly on higher difficulties, and I’d recommend it at the expense of an exotic power weapon.

Here are some more loadout tips for each of the classes.

Titans

  • Class: Thundercrash
  • Exotic weapon: Arbalest linear fusion rifle to take care of anti-Barrier Champions
  • Exotic armor: Cuirass of the Falling Star
  • Other weapons: Arc pulse rifle or hand cannon for Unstoppable Champions, Solar rocket launcher
  • Mods: Unstoppable pulse rifle or hand cannon, Thermoshock Plating, Rocket Launcher scavenger
  • Notes: Third Axiom is a great pulse option for this Lost Sector, and Posterity or Cantata-57 are probably your best bet depending on what hand cannon archetype you prefer. Ascendancy is the way to go for a power weapon if Arbalest is filling your exotic slot.
Warlocks
  • Class: Vortex Nova Bomb with Chaos Accelerant and Feed the Void aspects
  • Exotic weapon: Arbalest linear fusion rifle to take care of anti-Barrier Champions
  • Exotic armor: Nezarec’s Sin or Contraverse Holds
  • Other weapons: Arc pulse rifle or hand cannon for Unstoppable Champions, Solar rocket launcher
  • Mods: Unstoppable pulse rifle or hand cannon, Thermoshock Plating, Rocket Launcher scavenger, Volatile Flow, Melee Wellmaker, Font of Might, Elemental Ordnance
  • Notes: The Child of the Old Gods aspect can work here in place of Feed the Void, but we go with Feed the Void to grant Devour and keep health topped off. Throw on as many Elemental Well mods as you can to maximize the Void build, and feel free to swap in a void power weapon like Sins of the Past or Royal Entry on Master to create more wells.
Hunters
  • Class: Shadowshot Moebius Quiver with Stylish Executioner and Vanishing Step aspects
  • Exotic weapon: Arbalest linear fusion rifle to take care of anti-Barrier Champions
  • Exotic armor: STOMP-EE5 for easy dodge regen
  • Other weapons: Arc pulse rifle or hand cannon for Unstoppable Champions, Solar rocket launcher
  • Mods: Unstoppable pulse rifle or hand cannon, Thermoshock Plating, Rocket Launcher scavenger, Volatile Flow, Melee Wellmaker, Font of Might, Elemental Ordnance
  • Notes: The slow-and-steady strategy doesn’t synergize as well with leaning into invisibility as a Void 3.0 Hunter, but playing patiently is important, especially in the second room. Use your dodge to disengage, and save your super for burst damage on the Light-bearing Hive as well as the final two Barrier champions or boss. Throw on as many Elemental Well mods as you can to maximize the Void build, and feel free to swap in a void power weapon like Sins of the Past or Royal Entry on Master to create more wells.
