It’s all about the Hoenn region this month in Pokémon GO and some fan favorite Pokémon from the third generation return to the spotlight.
In addition to the Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn Event making the Primal Formes of Groudon and Kyogre available for the first time ever, the Primal Rumblings Event marks the return of Rayquaza. Rayquaza first made its debut in Five-Star Raids back in 2018, and players finally have the opportunity to capture this powerful dragon in raids once again.
How to catch Shiny Rayquaza in Pokémon GO
Mega Rayquaza will be available as a Five-Star raid boss in the upcoming Primal Rumblings event. In order to catch one for yourself, you will have to defeat it in battle. With Rayquaza being a Five-Star raid, this is, of course, much easier said than done. Five-Star raids, especially those dealing with legendary Pokémon, require a competent team of at least five strong trainers equipped with Pokémon that can reliably hit Rayquaza’s weaknesses.
Rayquaza is a Dragon and Flying-type Pokémon, meaning it carries a strong weakness to the Ice-type. Naturally, powerful Ice-type Mega Pokemon like Mega Glaile and Mega Abomasnow the top choices. Some of the best non-Mega options include Mamoswine and Galarian Darmanitan.
Once you’ve defeated a Rayquaza, you’ll have the opportunity to catch it. Unfortunately, a shiny Rayquaza is not a guarantee, so completing a few raids may be required to find one.
