One of the strangest leaks in Fortnite‘s history has arisen thanks to the recent v13.40 update. While we did receive the normal leaks regarding future cosmetics and new events, there was one that stood out. It has to do with in-game comic books and how they could soon arrive in the battle royale title. Obviously, there’s not a ton of information regarding the leak. However, we do have some in-game screenshots and proof that the comics exist. Let’s check out the leaks and speculate when the comics could come to Fortnite.
Comic books in Fortnite?
Unlike with some previous leaks, this is the first time we’re hearing about anything to do with comic books. There’s been no previous mention of the item in the code up until now, so it appears Epic Games has been trying to keep this under wraps.
Of course, that doesn’t stop data-miners. After the v13.40 update, one miner was able to discover a string of code labeled “ComicReader.” By itself, this isn’t too out of the normal. However, the miner also told fellow leaker @HYPEX that this code has to do with readable comic books and that they’re coming to Fortnite “at some point.”
2 days ago an unknown source (not same as old source) told me that readable Comic Books will come to Fortnite at some point, and today's update has a file called "ComicReader".. 🤔

This source’s information needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but the leak is backed up by in-game proof. Apparently, if you simply switch accounts on Xbox, you’ll see a comic book in the Fortnite menu. You can even interact with this comic, as shown below.
Here's a better video of the comic books thing, it appears if you switch accounts on Xbox, idk about PS4.. pic.twitter.com/q456XIJXci

As of right now, when you attempt to interact with the comic book, nothing happens. The book is simply a placeholder until Epic Games implements the code to make the comic book active.
At the time of writing, we’re not sure what kind of content could be read in the books. Perhaps Epic will show the story of Fortnite in the comics or perhaps take some snippets from Marvel comics. After all, the two companies do have a working relationship.
We’ll make sure to update you with any further developments to this story here at Daily Esports.
