Fortnite Champion Series Week 3: NA region standings and recap

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

After server issues, Fortnite Champion Series Week 3 took place. Epic Games rescheduled all rounds for the North American regions to Sunday. Players embarked on nine hours of tournament play. Each of the three rounds only had one hour in-between. Including breaks and warm-ups, teams played for over 11 hours on Sunday. Despite the challenges, top teams from each region continued their dominance. In the East, Logan “Bucke” Eschenburg, Owen “Animal” Wright, and Nick “Aspect” McGuire took home this week’s top spot. Evan “Cented” Barron, Edgey, and Brodie “rehx” Franks continued their amazing run in the West.

Consistency is key

The schedule changes did not affect the top trio in NAE. This week, Bucke, Animal, and Aspect narrowly beat out the region’s other most consistent trio for first place. They popped off for a huge first game in the final round. First, the trio started with a victory royale and 18 eliminations. Next, they had a couple of rough games. Ultimately, Bucke, Animal, and Aspect got back on track the last five games with consistent play. In the final game, the trio captured 14 eliminations and a second-place finish.

After three weeks, two teams are tied for the most Series Points in NAE. To no surprise, the two teams finished first and second in Week 3. The other team is Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf, Shawn “clarityG” Washington, and Stretch. Both teams finished within the top 10 each week.

Here are the top eight qualifying teams from NAE:

  1. envy bucke, SEN Animal, CODE SEN-Aspect
  2. SEN Bugha, RS clarityG, STRETCH
  3. Tempo CizLucky, LiquidChap, Liquid Vivid
  4. E11 Grazca, Ajay, E11 daxor
  5. TSM_Cloud, Ghost thwifo, Ghost Snood
  6. MSF Clix, LZR Crimz, Spades
  7. Knight, RogueShark_, Dr Flossen KBM
  8. Ghost Dmo, Ghost Bizzle, HydraFN

Can’t stop, won’t stop

No team dominates a single region like Cented, Edgey, and rehx. Since Trios started, they have won every event besides one. This week, the trio ended with a 17-point lead over the second-place team. Amazingly, they won four out of nine games in the final round. Additionally, Cented, Edgey, and rehx racked up 68 eliminations against the top 150 players in the region. In the final game, the trio took home a victory royale and 12 eliminations. Their run over the past couple of months is truly incredible.

Here are the top eight teams from NAW:

  1. rehx, Liquid Cented, FLY Edgey
  2. dadeFN, Sogys TV, DomoFN
  3. 100T Arkhram, Bloom Falconer, TSM.Vinny1x
  4. 1400 Rhux UwU, 1400 Pika, 1400 Joel
  5. RBK JDW, Zoommba, Yung Chexxy
  6. S2 twunks, aim.nitrix, dice2005x3005
  7. Old Man Fulmer, T1 Persecute, Kytrex
  8. S2 Ethan, KNG Tavern, 4DRStorm

Epic Games handled the server issues well. The developer regularly receives slack for its decisions but did the best it could in this situation. Server issues happen from time to time and the multiple-day format allows them to adjust when necessary. Obviously, nine hours of gaming in one day is not ideal but still allows players to compete for prizes and qualification spots.

Only two weeks remain in the Fortnite Champion Series. The next two weeks determine which trios qualify for the season finals. Then multiple rounds take place during the season finals to determine one winner. Several trios stood out over the first three weeks. Hopefully, a few more teams rise to the top of the leaderboards in the remaining weeks.
