This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Fortnite Champion Series week 3 took place this past weekend. Players participated from all over Europe. Unfortunately, this weekend saw some technical difficulties. During the tournament, players were unable to log in. The Fortnite community voiced their displeasure. Epic Games rescheduled the second round to Sunday along with the third round. Teams managed to adapt to the change, though a few teams had players sleep through the rescheduled round. Top trios continued their dominance regardless of the schedule.

A return to the top of online tournaments

The top trio of Week 3 in Europe performed well throughout the World Cup. First place in the EU region went to Thomas “Tschinken” Hörak, Klaus “Stompy” Konstanzer, and David “aqua” Wang. During the World Cup, Stompy and Tschinken were the most consistent duo throughout online qualifiers. Additionally, aqua won the World Cup with his old duo partner. They are undoubtedly a force in the region. In the final round, the trio finished with two wins and 77 eliminations. The trio started off with a win and 16 eliminations in the first game. Then they ended strong with four straight games with double-digit eliminations. After several great performances in the cash cups and earlier rounds, this team earned a spot in the season finals.

Another trio to watch is Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson, Dmitri “Mitr0” Van de Vrie, and Benjy “Benjyfishy” David Fish. Their worst placement during the Fortnite Champion Series is second. They finished second in Week 1, first in Week 2, and third in Week 3. The consistency and dominance of Mongraal, Mitr0, and Benjyfishy is extremely impressive. The trio sets the bar higher each week. Although they already qualified, this team wants nothing less than first place.

EU Week 3 qualifiers

The format of the Fortnite Championship Series provides teams five weeks to earn a spot in the season finals. Each week, the top eight teams earn the opportunity to play in the finals. Each region runs separately. These teams qualified in Week 3 from the European region:

  1. E11 Tschiiinken, E11 Stompy, COOLER aqua
  2. FaZe Mongraal, mitr0, NRG benjyfishy
  3. G2 Tohaj, hREDS BELAEU, Kaxie
  4. DV1 luKi, Smileyy, artor
  5. Kiryache32, freemok, KongTV
  6. Solary Airwaks, LeStream Vato, Solary Nikof
  7. TU Al4n, VHV Edr4k1 II, Bloodx
  8. NoFlex Nate, NoFlex Merjin, NoFlex Nakirye

With two weeks remaining, the stakes continue to rise. The competitive nature and prize pools keep the top teams competing after they qualified. Teams without a top-eight finish must rely on their accumulation of Series Points. More teams reach the season finals from consistency over a top-eight finish. This tournament format requires one excellent week or five consistent weeks to move on. Only two weeks remain in the Fortnite Champion Series.
