Ferps and yonni voted into The Gimvitational

The final roster is now set

The roster for Calvin “GimR” Lofton’s Summit-esque Super Smash Bros. Ultimate invitational has been finalized, as Felipe “Ferps” Moura and Yonnas “yonni” Gadissa became the final players to secure their spots at The Gimvitational on Tuesday.

The Gimvitational will take place from June 16-19 at the Xanadu Games venue in Laurel, Maryland. It will feature a mix of direct invitees, qualified players and vote-ins, adding up to a 16-person tournament that will include some of the best Smash Ultimate players in the world.

Despite facing elimination going into the last 15 seconds of voting, Ferps dropped a spirit bomb of about 5,000 votes in order to claim his spot at The Gimvitational. Meanwhile, yonni held a lead throughout the majority of the final voting period. Although Ferps ultimately surpassed him at the very end, yonni maintained enough votes to get into The Gimvitational, too.

Minnesotan Wario main Benji “loaf” Rust and Mexican Incineroar main Juan “Skyjay” Pablo became the final two players to be eliminated from the voting process on Tuesday. Nevertheless, they will get a cut of the money in the Player Fund, along with all the other players who advanced to the nomination phase. Currently, the Player Fund includes more than $13,000.

Meet the final Gimvitational vote-ins: Ferps and yonni

Brazilian Kazuya main Ferps will be the lone South American representative at GimR’s tournament. He recently finished in third place at Ultra Hard Tournament, a platinum event in the 2022 Smash World Tour. Ferps also boasts online wins over the likes of Gabriel “Epic_Gabriel” Romero, Bruno “Br1 AV” Assemany, Dylan “ApolloKage” J. and Skyjay.

Texan Steve main yonni first rose to prominence through online tournaments in early 2021. Since the return of offline tournaments last year, he has racked up wins on PGRUContenders-ranked players like Samuel “Dabuz” Buzby, Enrique “Maister” Hernández Solís and Brian “Cosmos” Kalu. While a major top eight still eludes him, yonni has reached top 16 at events like Riptide 2021, Genesis 8 and MomoCon 2022.

Now that Ferps and yonni have been voted in, the final roster for The Gimvitational is set. The following players will compete at the tournament next weekend:
