Unfortunately, you are not able to move buildings or items in LEGO Fortnite. Wherever you choose to place them at the beginning of the building process is where they will sit. It’s not like LEGO in real life, where you can just pick them up and move them.

The common pickaxe does the same amount of damage to structures as your fists, so there’s no real reason to use it. Using your firsts will save some wear on your pickaxe so you can keep using it on things that need it to be harvested.
