Best difficulty to choose in Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy is a game that features a wide amount of exploration. However, with that exploration comes danger in the form of enemies waiting for you to fall into their trap. The vast open world of Hogwarts Legacy features a variety of enemies around every turn, and players will always need to be prepared for a fight. While some players will be adept at the form of combat in the game, others might not be. If this is the case for you, we recommend trying out a new difficulty level in Hogwarts Legacy.

There are four different difficulty settings in Hogwarts Legacy, all of which provide a varying experience when it comes to combat. The lowest difficulty level is meant for those who just want to focus on exploration and the story while the highest level is only intended for those who are seasoned RPG veterans looking for a true challenge.

If you’re struggling to pick between all of the difficulty levels in Hogwarts Legacy, check out my guide on which one to pick below.

By default, the game will start you out with the Normal difficulty, which is described in-game as “a moderate and balanced gameplay challenge.” This will likely be the best pick for a majority of players, as it still features challenging gameplay, but not so arduous that players will be dying over and over.

I recommend most players start out with this difficulty and change it once they’ve tried out the combat if they want to. However, if this is your first major RPG, then we suggest starting with the Easy difficulty. This isn’t the lowest setting, being Very Easy, which should only be used by players who aren’t overly interested in combat.

However, there is a caveat with the Very Easy difficulty level. This level allows you to catch beasts with a 100% catch rate, so it’s nice to switch to if you ever want to hunt beasts. Of course, you have to wait for a while before you are able to catch beasts, so you can cross that bridge when you come to it in Hogwarts Legacy.

Finally, for those who don’t mind dying repeatedly, Hard difficulty is going to be for you. You can change the difficulty level in Hogwarts Legacy at any time, so I suggest trying out different ones to see what experience is right for you. You could also switch difficulty levels at various times depending on how hard you want certain elements of the game.
