Apex Legends Ranked Series 3 Second Split now live, Kings Canyon returns

The Second Split of Ranked Series 3 in Season 4 of Apex Legends is now live for all players. This is the first split of Ranked Play in any season of Apex Legends, as Respawn Entertainment is trying something new. Along with the new split is a soft rank reset, which will knock players down a tier and a half from where they were in the first split. So, for example, if you were Platinum III this past split, you’ll be demoted to Silver I. While it may be an inconvenience, this is simply to keep the playerbase more engaged.

Some players might be against Respawn’s new strategy, but overall, it should help keep the playerbase stable. With a soft rank reset, players will be more determined to reach the rank they were at during the first split.

However, if you’re worried about not earning your seasonal reward, don’t be. Your highest tier throughout both splits will be the one your reward is based off. For Ranked Series 3, if you reach Gold or higher at any point, you’ll earn a weapon charm. For the ranks below that, you’ll earn a badge for your profile.

Of course, the biggest attraction with this new season is the addition of the Kings Canyon map. This beloved map is back permanently in Season 4 of Apex Legends but only in Ranked Play. The standard modes will still use World’s Edge as the battleground.

For the Second Split, Respawn will use the Season 2 edition of Kings Canyon. So, areas like Wraith’s Lab and Containment will be in play. Apex Legends Ranked Series 3 concludes on May 5, so you have until then to reach the rank you desire and earn those rewards.
