Since the game’s release, Apex Legends has seen massive problems with cheating and exploits. From flat out aimbotting to abusing in-game mechanics, some players don’t seem too keen on playing by the rules. However, aside from the blatant cheating, one of the biggest problems in Apex Legends is about to be fixed. Dashboarding, as it’s come to be known, is a serious issue in the Ranked Playlist. Players have complained about it to Respawn since the playlist was introduced. Now, it appears that the developer is finally ready to do something about it.
Dashboarding fix incoming
If you’re unaware of what dashboarding is, it’s essentially leaving games early without facing a penalty. Usually, if you leave a Ranked game without finishing it, you’re subject to a timeout. However, if you manage to time it correctly, you can leave a Ranked game early without that punishment.
The process itself is fairly simple; all you do is press Alt+F4 whenever both of your teammates are down. This will make it seem like your game crashed, and Respawn’s system won’t think you left intentionally.
With such an easy method, it’s no wonder so many players are using this exploit in Apex Legends. However, that all appears to be coming to a halt in the near future. Respawn developer Eric Hewitt, known for his communication with the community, said this on Twitter:
hey, no need to report it manually, we can see it on our end. Judgment Day will be coming 🙂

“Judgment Day” almost certainly means that Respawn plans to either ban or penalize everyone who dashboards. How they plan to go about this is unclear, but we’re assuming they have a way to detect whether or not a player legitimately crashed or not. Hopefully, this day of reckoning comes soon and resolves the bulk of the issue.
