Sony is actively urging PS4 owners to upgrade their consoles ahead of the GTA VI launch on November 19. The campaign is being read as a strong signal that Rockstar has finally locked in the release date after multiple delays.
Are we finally safe to assume GTA VI is actually coming out this year? All signs point to yes. Sony has just rolled out a direct call to action for anyone still stuck on the last console generation, telling them to secure a PS5 to be ready for November 19.
According to the X account GTA 6 Countdown, Sony is leveraging this exact release date to push hardware. For a game that has already been pushed back twice, first slated for late 2025, then bumped to May 26 (which we are ironically fast approaching), and now sitting in November, this is a massive indicator. Rockstar has a long track record of delaying its flagship titles, but it’s highly unlikely Sony would press the big green marketing button unless they had absolute clearance that the date is actually final.
A few other puzzle pieces are falling into place, too. Sony’s promotional material suggests the age rating is locked in (+17 in North America), and Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has been making the media rounds recently. The PR machine is clearly firing up.
As officially confirmed, it’s PS5 and Xbox Series at launch. PC players will just have to stomach the traditional Rockstar waiting period before a port arrives.
We’ve had two trailers so far, and you can revisit both of them below. With Sony already warming up the crowd, a third one dropping this summer feels like a safe bet.
