Xbox and Halo Studios already revealed their hand with the Campaign Evolved remake, but the studio’s retro focus does not stop there. According to an exclusive video report from Rebs Gaming, a leaker with a solid track record regarding Microsoft projects, work is currently underway to bring back both Halo 2 and Halo 3. Both sequels are reportedly in the early stages of development.
The kicker? A source familiar with the situation claims this trilogy of remakes is definitely happening, regardless of whether the initial Campaign Evolved release is a commercial hit or a flop.
The first game in this revived lineup, Halo Campaign Evolved, is set to launch later this year for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. The title is being built from the ground up, featuring upgraded graphics and audio, alongside brand-new content like three fresh missions, extra weapons, and the addition of a sprint mechanic. However, the remake functions strictly as a campaign-only experience and will ship without multiplayer.
Whether the Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes will follow this exact same campaign-only template remains to be seen. The developers dropped Halo Infinite last year to fully commit to future titles, making a remastered trilogy a clear part of their new roadmap.
