After joining and playing for Sentinels in the VALORANT Champions Tour 2022 North America Last Chance Qualifiers, Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro has left and returned to Version1, his previous VALORANT team. Zellsis revealed this on Twitter, before Version1 confirmed his move back with a tweet of their own.

Zellsis’ path leads back to Version1

The VCT 2022 season for Zellsis is a strange one, starting the year as one of the top players in the league. Version1 made waves in Stage 1 Challengers, leading most team statistics but couldn’t take advantage of it in the playoff stage. Unfortunately, both Zellsis and Version1 couldn’t replicate those performances for the rest of the year, not qualifying for Stage 2 Challengers. Both of their stage performances didn’t lead to anything in the playoffs, which meant that they couldn’t qualify for the NA LCQ.

At the same time, Sentinels were looking to revamp their roster after a poor start in 2022. They just managed to squeak into the NA LCQ ahead of Version1, so when Sentinels looked for talent to add, Zellsis made sense. As proven NA talent looking to gain notoriety, Zellsis joined Sentinels in July 2022 to help with their NA LCQ run. Alongside big signing Michael “shroud” Grzesiek, Zellsis helped Sentinels continue as one of the most popular VALORANT teams in the world. Yet, their NA LCQ run didn’t last long, losing to 100 Thieves in the lower bracket to end their season.

With his 2022 season over, Zellsis then had the opportunity to stay with Sentinels or move away. With 2023’s new franchising system, there is a good chance that plenty of VALORANT players will be on the move. However, with this reveal, Zellsis is going back to the team that helped make his name in VALORANT, hoping to compete in NA once again.

Version1 could run it back

With this re-signing, Version1’s roster that made waves in Stage 1 Challengers is back together again. Plus, with franchising coming soon, there is a good chance that this roster will stay together, whether on Version1 or somewhere else. Either way, for a short time, Zellsis got more experience competing against the best teams in NA on Sentinels.

Now, the question is if Zellsis and Version1 can return to that Stage 1 form in 2023. Fans will have to wait and see in 2023 when Zellsis debuts for Version1 for the second time.
