Will lightsabers be removed from Fortnite after Winterfest?

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

As with most limited-time items in Fortnite, many feel the lightsabers have overstayed their welcome. Introduced in December, the lightsabers were a part of the Star Wars collaboration that lasted several weeks. However, with the collaboration over, fans are wondering when the last remnants of the partnership will leave. While the lightsabers are a cool addition, they are simply too overpowered in their current state. So, people are wondering if Epic Games will pull the plug on it as Winterfest concludes.

Lightsabers leaving with Winterfest?

The Winterfest event in Fortnite is rumored to be ending on January 6 or 7. Though no one knows for sure, this is what the leaked information is telling us. Still, things can change pretty quickly over at Epic Games.

Although, assuming Winterfest will end in a few days, what all will leave with it? Perhaps the snow-covered map will return to normal and the winter-themed POIs like Crackshot’s Cabin will also make their departure.

However, the biggest question is if lightsabers will be removed along with Winterfest. As aforementioned, the novelty of the Star Wars weapon has worn off and players are extremely annoyed with its mechanics. It would make sense then for Epic Games to send the lightsabers to the vault with all other limited-time weapons.

We have no way of knowing right now if this is the plan or not. It seems like a logical deduction, but Epic Games has proven itself to be unpredictable time and again. If they don’t end up in the vault after Winterfest ends, the chances of them leaving anytime soon decrease. Fortnite Chapter 2 hasn’t seen a ton of updates, so it could be a while if Winterfest doesn’t take the lightsabers with it.
