More often than not, a submachine gun is one of the most used weapons in Call of Duty: Warzone. Whether players are using it as a secondary weapon to an assault rifle or as a primary, SMGs are always firmly in the meta of the battle royale. However, there’s long been a debate over which SMG is considered the “best.”
At first, this was quite an easy distinction to make, as the Modern Warfare MP5 reigned supreme for months. This all changed, though, when Black Ops Cold War was integrated and introduced a whole new slate of SMGs. From here on, players weren’t sure which SMG to use if they wanted the absolute best in class.
While it’s still up for some debate, Season 3 of Warzone has seemingly answered this question without much doubt: The MAC-10.
The best SMG in Warzone
For most players, the best submachine gun comes down to a few Black Ops Cold War weapons. Modern Warfare SMGs have fallen behind since Cold War’s integration, leading most players to replace them with newer models.
Season 3 sees the following SMGs as contenders for the top spot in the class: the MAC-10, Cold War MP5, LC10 and Bullfrog. The latter two are late additions to the list, as Raven Software buffed them both in Season 3.
The LC10 is a more balanced weapon but doesn’t quite possess the damage of other SMGs in the class. In regard to the Bullfrog, this LMG-like weapon is a monster with its huge magazine and low recoil. However, again, it can’t quite put down enemies as fast as other SMGs.
Those other SMGs are the MAC-10 and MP5, both of which could be considered the best in class. However, the MAC-10 is the best overall submachine gun. Its ridiculous fire rate is unmatched in Warzone, making its lower damage not as noticeable. The only thing players need to worry about is the recoil that comes with the high fire rate. This can be rendered negligible with the MAC-10’s recommended loadout, though.
Between the MAC-10 and MP5, players can’t go wrong. But, for anyone looking to shred through the annoying onslaught of ARs in Warzone, the MAC-10 is the best option.
