An Ash of War in Elden Ring can completely transform a player’s character. But there are certain ashes that are so dominant, players don’t even need to swing their weapon in order to defeat a group of enemies. The Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War is one key example in Elden Ring.
The ash has been called overpowered by the player base, and for good reason. It can singlehandedly take out bosses in a matter of seconds. But to find Hoarfrost Stomp, players will have to complete a mini-quest on the map.
If players want to forego the task of acquiring the Ash of War, they can instead search for the Icerind Hatchet. Hoarfrost Stomp is the default Ash of War on this weapon. However, if players want to use the ash on any other weapon, they’ll have to find it separately.
Hoarfrost Stomp’s location in Elden Ring
The Ash of War is located in Liurnia of the Lakes, just southeast of Caria Manor. The manor is located in the northern part of the region, directly east of locations like Ranni’s and Renna’s Rise.
Once you’re at the manor, you will need to travel southeast until you reach a small body of water. In this body of water, there will be some mysterious footprints that go in a set pattern. These footprints are actually being made by an invisible Teardrop Scarab, who holds the Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War.
To kill the scarab, stand on the path of the footprints. Once the prints get close to the direction you’re facing, start attacking with your weapon. If you time it right, you’ll connect with the scarab and kill it. If not, keep standing in your position and attacking as regularly as possible.
Once the scarab has been killed, the Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War will be added to your inventory. If you wish to put the skill on more than one weapon, you can use a Lost Ash of War to duplicate it. You can purchase that at the Warmaster’s Shack in Stormhill and then take it to Master Hewg at the Roundtable Hold to complete the process.
