Hogwarts Legacy has been one of the most successful video game releases of 2023, and it still hasn’t even launched on every available platform. The game was originally released on the current-generation consoles alongside PC, then came out on the last-generation consoles over the summer. Of course, there’s one platform still left that hasn’t seen Hogwarts Legacy and that’s the Nintendo Switch.
The Switch port for the Wizarding World game was supposed to be released around the same time as the launch of the PS4 and Xbox One ports. However, due to technical issues, the Switch port was delayed until later in 2023.
Well, it is now the latter part of 2023 and Switch fans are eagerly awaiting their chance to experience the world of Hogwarts Legacy for themselves.
Release date for Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch
The release date for the Switch port of Hogwarts Legacy was on Nov. 14, 2023. Luckily, there was no further delay for the port and players can now explore Hogwarts and its surrounding areas by purchasing the game as a physical copy or on the Nintendo Store.
If you’re curious as to how the game looks on the Switch, recent screenshots from Nintendo give you a glimpse at how Hogwarts Legacy will look on the console. As expected, the graphical quality of the game has been downgraded quite a bit in order to run on the Switch’s older hardware. However, from the looks of it, the Wizarding World and Hogwarts Castle still look decent.
Your frame rate will be capped at 30 fps while playing, though, so don’t expect as smooth of an experience as you might have on a PlayStation or Xbox. You can also expect some downgrades aside from the overall visuals, such as fewer NPCs, reduced textures, and watered-down animations.
Hogwarts Legacy on the Switch costs $60 and you can pick it up as a physical disc or through the Nintendo store now or in the future.
