When do you unlock Numen Cards in Dead Island 2?

The last element of the Skill Deck

The Skill Deck is one of the most important elements of your Slayer in Dead Island 2. Not only does it allow you to customize your character to your playstyle, but it gives you dozens of unique abilities and buffs to ensure that your zombie-slaying will always be top-notch. There are four different categories in the Skill Deck, and they are Abilities, Survivor, Slayer, and Numen. The first three you unlock fairly quickly in Dead Island 2, but the Numen Cards category remains locked for quite some time.

As such, players are curious about exactly how long they have to wait before they are able to unlock and use Numen Cards in Dead Island 2. You can read the guide below to find out the answer to that question.

Unlocking Numen Cards in Dead Island 2

For reasons that will become clearer as you progress through the main story of Dead Island 2, the Numen category of the Skill Deck will remain locked for most of the game. It’s not until you are on Story Mission 21/24 that you unlock the Numen Cards. More specifically, you need to complete the main quest called “The Search for Truth,” which involves you going to a lab to find out answers about what’s really going on with the zombie outbreak.

After you complete this quest and learn the truth about what’s happening, you will gain access to the Numen Cards in the Skill Deck. You’ll know you’re about to unlock the Numen Cards when you see the characters above come onto the screen. To start off, you will be given one card in the Numen category, which is an Autophage skill. You will unlock a few more Numen Cards as you finish the rest of the main story in Dead Island 2.

I was able to unlock a few different Numen Cards before the game ended, but your experience may vary. I also completed several side quests before the game’s end, giving me more XP and levels and thus access to more cards.
