Did fans ask for an animated sitcom featuring the roster of Overwatch League team Dallas Fuel? Probably not. But with slick animation, tongue-in-cheek humor, and the beginnings of its own lore, fans are definitely happy with the result.
Fuel House, a parody of Full House by David&Goliath, sees patron mascot “Jack” on weekly escapades with the Fuel roster. Each episode is less than 2 minutes long, but each still feels unique.
Episodes
Episode 1, “Stretched,” saw Minseok “OGE” Son discover who’s been stealing his jersey.
For Episode 2, “Cosplay, Baby!,” Jack tries his hand at cosplaying.
Episode 3, “Jack Bot,” has Jack build a robot to learn more about the team, which Benjamin “uNKOE” Chevasson doesn’t take kindly to.
Hyeon “EFFECT” Hwang takes a break from scrims and streaming in Episode 4, “Positive Effect.” Though probably unintended, the episode aired roughly a month after EFFECT’s retirement from pro play.
In Episode 5, “Fuel Fest,” Jack tries to get the team on board for “Fuel Festival.”
Episode 6, “Revenge of…,” finishes off the season with a character returning for vengeance.
The series has been received well from fans, with many appreciating the attention to the quirks and histories of the players. While no plans for a second season have been announced, many look forward to potentially seeing more of the Dallas Fuel roster, such as Timo “Taimou” Ketunnen and possibly even cameos from former players like popular streamer Félix “xQc” Lengyel.
Other Overwatch League teams have also tried a variety of marketing campaigns. Hangzhou Spark adopted an anime character while the L.A. Valiant filmed a short documentary series. It remains to be seen if other teams will take inspiration.
