As with any new video game, players are wondering how they can improve their gameplay. Valorant is no different, as Riot Games’ FPS features a fairly steep learning curve. The weapons all have different spray patterns, the maps are intricate, and the Agents take time to master. It’s no wonder that so many new players are asking for ways to help speed along the process of improving at the game.
While the bulk of the work is up to you, we do have some ways to help you better your gameplay in the Valorant Closed Beta.
Ways to improve at Valorant
Though the game is still in its beta phase, Riot has confirmed that it won’t undergo too many changes before launch. This means that the work you put in now will pay off when Valorant fully releases sometime in the summer. If you want to have a step ahead of everyone else when that happens, then you should follow these tips.
1. Play at a slower pace
One of the common mistakes a ton of players are making is trying to play at full-speed. Valorant is designed to be a tactical and strategic shooter. If you don’t play it this way, then you’ll find yourself at the bottom of the leaderboard rather quickly.
So, instead of jumping around corners and rushing up past the bombsites, try to sit back and watch a lane or two. If you know where a group of enemies are coming from, find a tactical spot and pick them off one by one instead of spraying rapidly into the crowd. This will help your death count decrease while also helping your team win rounds.
2. Aim Down Sights when necessary
One of the more interesting aspects that Valorant brings to the table is the ability to Aim Down Sights (ADS). Likely a tactic to differentiate itself from CSGO, Valorant‘s ADS system is a bit tricky to master. When you use ADS, you lose some accuracy, but it’s easier to see where you’re shooting.
While the strategy of ADS shouldn’t be used in every gunfight, you should use it somewhat regularly. Whether you’re peeking down a long alley or out of a window, ADS can prove helpful when hitting those tough shots. Just remember that hip firing is still going to be your best bet in most scenarios.
3. Use all of the utility at your disposal
Each Agent has four abilities, and they will all come in handy at some point in Valorant. Whether it’s Sova’s devastating ultimate or Jett’s useful dashing abilities, these can be the difference between winning and losing a match.
Though not every ability is super useful, you’ll want to make sure you’re using everything at your disposal. If you’re about to walk in through a doorway, throw one of Phoenix’s flashbangs. If you want to storm a bombsite, lay down a cloud of smoke from Brimstone, Jett, or Omen. More than just your gun can help win a gunfight in Valorant.
Those are our tips for improving in Valorant! Make sure to keep up with Daily Esports for more news and guides for Valorant and its closed beta.
