In an official release, UCLA reveal the details of the partnership. MSI will now equip the university’s esports teams with high-quality technology to support their esports teams and tournaments. The upgraded technology will include hardware such as new monitors and computers. Additionally, this partnership will provide more opportunities for students who are interested in pursuing a professional career in the industry.

UCLA’s esports teams

The Associate Director of UCLA Recreation Brian Smith shared a few words on this exciting new partnership. “This deal will allow us to give back to our student-athletes and help improve their experience at UCLA while also providing more opportunities to engage the student body through gaming.” Many professional industries know UCLA Esports as a leader in collegiate competitive gaming. As of today, the university has teams in League of Legends, Overwatch, Dota 2, Hearthstone, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The esports industry knows UCLA to produce top esports talent, such as Dillon LeDuc. He recently reached Rank 1 in the NA Hearthstone ladder. He also qualified for the Hearthstone Masters Tour this year.

Additionally, they have also started the Spark campaign, a fundraiser that directly benefits their student players. UCLA Esports is 100% student-run, so this partnership is a great leg up to helping them achieve their goals.

A word from MSI

On a final note, MSI’s Corporate Marketing VP Sam Chern said MSI is looking forward to being a part of UCLA’s esports success. “We wanted to be a part of their journey by providing innovative hardware and technology to propel its athletes to continued success.”
