A new year means fresh opportunities for the millions of active streamers on Twitch. As Gordon Ramsay, New Year’s celebrations and Squid Game have taken over the live streaming platform in January, established faces and newcomers alike have risen up the viewership rankings. As we move into February and prepare to see if anyone is dumb enough to try streaming the Super Bowl, here were the top 10 most-watched streamers on Twitch in January.

All stats are provided by Sully Gnome.

1. Félix “xQc” Lengyel

The king stays king. After ruling over the purple lands in 2021 month in and month out with his consistent, day-long streams, xQc kicked off 2022 with more than 24 million watch hours in January.

It doesn’t matter if he’s role-playing a fugitive in Grand Theft Auto or watching Gordon Ramsay yell at amateur chefs, the Canadian streamer averages more than 75,000 live viewers on his broadcasts.

2. Joaquín “Elxokas” Domínguez

We go from a known name to a rising star in the form of Spanish streamer Elxokas.

Although Elxokas is no stranger to streaming and attracting thousands to his broadcasts over the years, January was a life-changing month for him. He quadrupled his Twitch subscriptions and gained more than 1 million followers while collaborating with some of the biggest streamers in Spain. Look to see Elxokas maybe even have a bigger February thanks to upcoming streams with the likes of Spanish kingpin Ibai “Ibai” Llanos.

3. Raúl “AuronPlay” Álvarez Genes

Spain has always been one of the biggest countries for Twitch, but 2022 could be the year where it truly takes over as the center of the live streaming world in the west.

if that happens, longtime personality and streamer AuronPlay will be at the forefront. While only third in our rankings, that’s only due to the hours the two streamers above him put in. In terms of average viewers in January, AuronPlay beat both, with more than 100,000 viewers tuning in to watch the Spanish superstar go live.

4. David “TheGrefg” Cánovas Martínez

Spain, Spain, Spain.

TheGrefg might not have toppled xQc for watch hours in 2021, but he did break Twitch by smashing the concurrent viewership record. More than 2 million viewers tunned in to see the Spanish streamer unveil his exclusive skin in Fortnite. As one of the leading streamers in Spain, expect to see him in the top-five as long as he pushes the go-live button.

5. Ibai “Ibai” Llanos

If he isn’t hanging out and streaming lavish parties with close, personal friend Lionel Messi, Ibai is putting on television-worthy broadcasts on the weekly.

From humble beginnings as a League of Legends commentator, Ibai has become a full-fledged celebrity in recent years. Most recently, he teamed up with Spanish football legend Gerard Piqué to create esports organization KOI.

At this rate, we will be seeing Ibai live streaming in space by 2025.

6. Tyler “Trainwreck” Niknam

Not many people can travel to Las Vegas, but if you wanna see someone play slots, Trainwreck is your guy.

A longstanding member in the western Twitch community, the host of the Scuffed Podcast has become the face of gambling on the network. Only behind xQc in hours streamed in our rankings, he was live for more than 280 hours in January.

7. Juan Alberto “IlloJuan” García

Oh hey, another Spanish streamer. Similarly to Elxokas, IlloJuan has seen his stock rise recently with a star-making month in January, where he gained more than 350,000 followers and more than tripled his watch hours.

8. Juan Sebastián “juansguarnizo” Guarnizo Algarra

The pride of Colombia, juansguarnizo had a fruitful 2021 and looks to break into the top-five in 2022. He had a peak viewership of almost 300,000 this month and gained more than 700,000 followers.

9. Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker

Hasan had his breakout year in 2020 with the presidential election, and the political streamer has continued his momentum during the last year to become one of the platform’s premier faces. He amassed more than 9 million watch hours for the opening month of 2022.

10. Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp

He’s what we call…a bit of a problem.

The leading League of Legends streamer, Tyler1 started the new year with the fourth and final part of his series to gain Challenger rank at every non-bottom position. After conquering the jungle, surviving the top lane and gliding past mid, he is trying to complete his own personal Exodia by hitting Challenger as support.

And as he rockets up the solo queue leaderboards, so has his viewership: averaging more than 30,000 in his quest to not tilt playing Karma seven games in a row.
