The Trevor Project and Malala Fund are among the involved charities

“Pokémon is a brand that immediately sparks joy and has captured the imaginations of kids around the world for 25 years,” president Kenji Okubo said in a press release. “With its universal themes of adventure, friendship, and perseverance, it has also been welcomed into the lives of an incredibly diverse fanbase in countries around the world. We are dedicated to leveraging that unique ability and the support we’ve received from our broad community of Trainers to be a positive force in the lives of children and create a more equitable, inclusive world in which all can flourish.”

The Pokémon Company’s Inclusion & Social Impact website features a list of over 40 organizations that the corporation will contribute to as part of its social equity campaign. It includes charities in many different parts of the world, from The Trevor Project to Malala Fund. TPC has also said that it may add more organizations to the list over the course of its five-year plan.

According to the previously mentioned press release, the bulk of TPC’s support will come as direct monetary donations. However, the company also intends to provide the “gift of play,” as they put it. This will include trading cards, games, toys and other Pokémon Center products; the company will give these products to organizations to then distribute to children.

The list of organizations includes charities that operate on global, regional and local levels. As the name suggests, global charities are those that offer support to locations throughout the world.

Meanwhile, regional charities impact people throughout Europe, Latin America, North America and Oceania; all places where the Pokémon brand has a sizable presence. Finally, local charities are based in Bellevue, Washington, and London, England, where the Pokémon Company’s main offices are located.
