Whether you want to buy vitamins to power up your Pokémon or new swag for your character, you’re going to need money. In Pokémon Sword and Shield, there are several ways to get in-game currency (Poké Dollars). Here are the most efficient ways to do it.
Beating the game
Beating the game will get you large sums of money on its own. Battling trainers and collecting items in Pokémon Sword and Shield are both profitable. You can give a Pokémon an Amulet Coin to hold while doing the playthrough, which will increase profits. You will also gain access to more areas of the Wild Area and increase the amount of Watts (the Wild Area currency) you get there once you complete the main story.
The Wild Area
Once you’ve beaten the game, the Wild Area becomes the best place to get money. There are valuable items all over the Wild Area, such as Stardust, Star Pieces, Mushrooms, and Rare Bones. There is a Pokémon Breeder you can battle that gives you 24,000 Poké Dollars for beating her. You can also trade your Watts to Watt Traders for Luxury Balls, which sell for a great price.
Max Raid Battles
Beating Max Raid Battles will earn you several valuable rewards. You don’t have to catch the Pokémon in the raid to earn these rewards, either; you simply have to win the raid. This can net you valuable items as well as Technical Records (TRs), which sell for high prices to shops.
The Tournament
Once you beat the game, you can challenge the tournament in Wyndon as many times as you want. If you want maximum profits, make sure to invite Hop or Leon, as they give considerably more than other challengers. After you beat the tournament, the Ball Guy will also give you a random reward. Some of the rewards he gives are quite valuable.
Money is far more valuable in Pokémon Sword and Shield than it has been in previous games. This is mainly because you can fully EV train a Pokémon with vitamins now, which are extremely expensive. There are also a wide variety of cosmetic items that go for high prices. Be sure to utilize all of these methods to fill your wallet!
